Salisbury, N.C. | Livingstone College receives $5 million gift from an anonymous donor just days after Dr. Anthony J. Davis, the college’s president and CEO, successfully completes kidney transplant surgery.

“Seven days after my surgery, I had full kidney function, and all tests returned to normal,” Davis shared. “I am restored, renewed, and rejuvenated.” Davis was notified of the gift seven days after his surgery.
Under Davis’s leadership, Livingstone continues to transform into a premier HBCU, with significant enrollment growth and capital investment. With this recent gift, the anonymous donor has contributed over $61 million toward the “Miracle on Monroe Street” capital refurbishment project, including solar energy, rehabilitation of two residence halls, and updates to key campus facilities such as Aggrey Cafeteria, Price Administration building, and the complete restoration of the Alumni House, located at 422 Caldwell Street near campus. Additionally, the college secured $6 million in tax credits from Bank of America.
In August, the same donor gifted the college $10M at the start of the academic year, bolstering their continued support for Livingstone and demonstrating their belief in the future of the college.
“I am extremely grateful for supporters like our anonymous donor, who continue to invest in the growth and upward trajectory of Livingstone College,” Davis said.
